hippotherapy update

2 months in, hippotherapy is going great! Andrew just finished his summer PT session and will continue for OT during the school year.

He says his favorite way to ride is backwards.

He also likes to ride sideways, on his knees, and trot.  He really didn't like riding on his belly, but today he was smiling.

A couple of weeks ago, he also started a new program called the Therapeutic Listening Program.  Today while listening, he layed in a net swing on his back and swung back and forth in rhythmic motions.

"Therapeutic listening is an evidence-based auditory intervention that uses music that is electronically altered to tap into parts of the brain involved in regulating bodily functions, relating to others, and organizing behavior." (From the TherAplay website)

The music is incorporated into Andrew's pediatric occupational therapy session to help with sensory processing, attention, communication, improve tolerance to noise, reduce anxiety, and more.

We continue to see significant changes and are very impressed with our little boy!  And he LOVES going.  Today I asked him what his favorite part of therapy was and he said "riding Fairytale!" :)
